By SANCHESKA BROWNTribune Staff [email protected] Minister Fred Mitchell said yesterday the Government is considering introducing a National Identification Card as well as charging persons who knowingly hire illegal immigrants in an effort to deal with the country’s long standing illegal migration problem.Mr Mitchell said in 2014 the issue of immigration will be “front and centre” on the government’s agenda.“I cannot make that decision, the question of a nation identity card is an issue which has been mooted and is a discussion point. The technology is certainly available to do it, particularly since you already either have to get a passport or a national insurance number. Comrade Minister Freddy no one has fought harder against your detractors than I. But your government's talk to introduce ID cards even rattles my cage?
Yes, we do have crime, like other countries experience too, but I always thought ID cards have traditionally not been used during peacetime but when a county is at war, or as a means to control the free movement of its people?? I know the Red Communist Chinese government 's influence seems be everywhere in we Bahamaland.
But little did I know your government to be as suspicious of the Red Communist Chinese real intent as most we Bahamalander's sure as hell are? Minister print lots ID card cause your new 'all can freely land in Bahamaland' VISA program(s) will sure as hell use them up. Minister with no war in sight you do not control the free movement of your own citizens to solve another problem. Why does this government try to make solving simple problems complicated? The immigration department knows where the illegals are. You DO NOT need a national ID to identify the illegals. Stop using smoke screen to prolong the problem and stop trying to make it seem as if you want to resolve this vexing problem.
Tell you what: Let's get started by cleaning out all those illegals who work as a part of the maintenance crew at BEC Clifton Pier. These 50 plus workers can be replaced by Bahamian young men. I hope that someone from Tribune is reading this and investigates. You can have all the technology and identification documents in the world but as long as the people who are using the new technology to create ID documents are corrupt, it won't make any difference. We are essentially in this mess due to the corrupt practices of some Bahamians who are always trying to make a dollar 'under the table'. The vast amount of problems in our nation are too far gone to rectify.

You can blame the 25 year governance of the PLP for the ingrained Bahamian corruption and entitlement that so many of us possess. The 'all for me baby' crew with their maximum leader L.O.
Pindling at the helm has created this monster and I'm afraid that nothing will ever be done as long as there are votes to be bought. National I.D's would be a good thing but those crooks who work in each and every government department will be selling them within 2 weeks after it is implemented. Why prosecute persons who hire the illegals instead of shipping their asses back to the country from which they came, but then again as I posted recently one illegal Haitian sent back home was back here in the Bahamas within six months on a three month visa. He will not go back until he is caught again. Crooks even in our embassies overseas.
Minister Mitchell get your personal ministry in order before spouting off about other problems in this country. All they really need to do is go back to the written law and the provisions for each and every Government department to ACT contained therein. All these new rules and regulations will suffer from the same lack of implementation and enforcement, the lack of which is what caused their implementation in the first place.Band-aids,and duct tape, no way to run a country. All they succeed in doing is strangling any productivity by enabling total Government obstruction at every level, and much potential for political malice and interference. Some Bahamians are unbelievable. Some of you cry and make noise of the illegal immigration situation this country faces. Now the government wants to introduce a National ID and severely deal with the immigrants who is taking jobs, health care and education from Bahamians and yet they still complain.
Believe it or not Bahamians are the ones who encourage these people to come here. Some Bahamians do not want to work, uninterested in education and feel public medical health care is only for poor people. As a result this slackness encourage foreigners to come and utilize what Bahamians do not want. Bahamians need to come together and report any illegal immigrant they know of and the person who hire them at the same time work and take advantage what we as Bahamians can get for little to nothing and stop believing what you see on the gangster rap videos.
If we do not come together we will be second citizens in our own country. Why has not there not been another Eastern Road inspection? Perhaps at another road next time? Why not have one of these every week (on a different weekday or course)??????Have it in a different area each week, so that Bahamians are not inconvenienced (the same ones) every week. Except of course, do the same one two weeks in a row once in a while - just to be random. If we did this EVERY WEEK - the word would soon get back to Haiti that we are serious and many (not all) will stop putting fuel in their boats.Remember - they don't need much fuel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They only need a couple gallons to reach Ragged Island or some other southern island - THEN the defense force gives them a ride the rest of the way to Nassau for FREE.I sometimes wonder WHAT could I get in Haiti for free?
Chances are, if you’ve flown to a different country you’ve been given a card to fill out on arrival. Used daystar embroidery software. This form, called an embarkation card, is given to immigration along with your passport to provide information about you and your visit. This won’t be the most exciting post, but after having my own bad experience, I thought I’d write a quick few tips regarding these little cards.1. Make sure you receive the cardCan’t stress this one enough.
Usually you’ll be handed an embarkation card before arrival on your airplane, boat, or however you’re entering the country. If your airline does not pass out the cards, ask a flight attendant about it. Many airports will have these forms at a counter in immigration–but not always. We thought it was a bit strange when we weren’t handed an embarkation card on our flight to Phuket, but didn’t bother asking about it because we assumed we would just fill one out at immigration– WRONG.Everyone rushed off the plane to get in line at immigration, and quickly came to a halt when they asked everyone where our embarkation cards were. There were no cards at the counter and the immigration officers told us we should have by given them by the airlines. Everyone started arguing that no one was given any on board. Now for most people, their immigration officer pulled out a new embarkation card from his desk.
Unfortunately for us, we picked the wrong immigration officer.“You help me, I help you.”“Y es! Yes!”, we excitedly replied and stood there waiting for him to give us our cards. He gave us a look and the repeated “ You Help me, I help you”.Oh the excitement quickly disappeared from my face at the realization of the situation.
“You mean you want money?”“Uh huh”, he grunted.I couldn’t believe this was happening. Do we really need to bribe this immigration officer to be let in? I looked around as everyone else was quickly scribbling down their information on embarkation cards they had been freely given.Worried that we’d be denied entry, we opened our wallet– 50 baht. That was all we had managed to pre-exchange with a plan of exchanging money in the morning when stores reopened (our flight landed at 3am).
We weren’t sure if we would need cash to get to our hotel, so we asked him if 20 would be enough.Again he grunted, and we handed him the bill.Needless to say he stamped our passports in and did not give us any change.I was bitter the next few hours over my lovely welcome to the “Land of a Thousand Smiles”. But because of this incident, every time I’ve since been on a plane, I make sure to receive an embarkation card during the flight. Carry your own penJust as you shouldn’t assume immigration will provide embarkation cards for you, you shouldn’t assume they’ll have a pen either. All embarkation cards need to be filled out in pen, so if you know you’ll be traveling, it’s best to throw one in your carry on.This tip also helps you save time since you can fill out the card on board rather than having to fill it out at the counter before getting in line for immigration. Fill in the form accuratelyWhat you write on your embarkation card needs to match what is on your passport or visa, otherwise they may stop you.
If you have your first and middle name on your passport, then you need to write your first and middle name on your embarkation card, etc. And if you’re looking for work in the country you’ll be visiting, but you’re entering as a tourist, make sure to check your purpose as “tourism” and not “employment” if you don’t have the proper visa for it.Double check that all questions have been answered correctly. Dates are often written differently in other countries. When I first traveled to Asia, I wrote my birthday wrong the first time.
There were two blanks per section and I quickly jotted down my birthday in the American order mm dd yy, but when I looked again the form was asking for yy dd mm. Fill in all blanksAvoid leaving any part of the form blank.Almost all forms will ask for your hotel address.
If you haven’t booked a hotel, that’s okay, but just write down the name of a possible hotel you may stay at. Another common blank that can be hard to answer is the “flight/vessel number” because maybe you arrived by bus, train or foot.
I just try to write-in the accurate information. When I went to China from Hong Kong, I simply wrote “by MTR train”.If something truly doesn’t fit your situation, simply write “N/A” instead of leaving it blank.dividerFilling out the cards can be a hassle, and it is not uncommon that travelers are denied entry due to mistakes in their embarkation cards. Although most mistakes can be quickly fixed, it is best to get it right the first time in order to have a quick and painless time through immigration. Have you had bad experiences at immigration? Comment below!
In this digital era it is such a shame that the passengers are handed forms to fill in. What happens to a lot of illiterate laborers who travel?
Who will fill up their forms? What about literate people who do not understand English or the language of that country?
Project igi 1 game free download for windows 7 64 bit. It such an insult! ALL the required information is there in the passport which they can either swipe or scan to get all the info only 2 informations are required1) Airport of departure &2) Reason for travel. Both can be selected on the computer terminal by the immigration officer with a drop down selection box which can be easily incorporated in the software.
Will take 2 seconds extra.Airports need to be more digital than just iris scans!

I Printed the forms from this site and prefilled them out. I had no problem clearing in LucayaThere is no problem with printing out those forms and using them - I have been doing it for years. I have my copies on the computer with all the static data filled out so all I need to do is fill out additional people and dates and print them off before a trip. If you mean the two pages of the form in the OP, the second page shown is to be filled out on departure. The other side of that page has the carbon copy of your entries from the first page, plus it has other details - such as a space for processing an extension of your stay if needed. For the immigration card to be complete there should be 3 pages in that PDF file - but even if it did it can't be filled out as designed. The best thing to do if you need immigration cards is to pick up extra when you clear next time or call the Bahamas Tourist Office to see if they can send you some.Ed.
